Meet Nix, a beautiful red kelpie who has mastered the art of looking relaxed while keeping a watchful eye on the world around him.

Lying comfortably at rest, he carries that unmistakable kelpie alertness, the quiet intelligence, devotion and readiness that make these remarkable Australian working dogs so loved. There is something wonderfully familiar about this pose, a little moment that captures both the gentleness and the spirited nature of a dog who takes his job seriously, even when his job is simply keeping you company.

Part of my Meet collection, Nix celebrates the personalities and connections that make our animal companions such an important part of our lives.

Although this original oil painting has found its forever home, I hope it brings a smile to fellow dog lovers and reminds them of a much-loved companion of their own.

For art collectors and interior designers looking for original Australian art, a characterful animal portrait brings warmth, personality and a meaningful story into a home. If Nix has stolen your heart, I would love to create a similar original oil painting of your own beloved dog, capturing their unique character and all the little things that make them irreplaceable.
