The Story Behind The Painting
The Story Behind The Painting
Part of my Belong collection, His Land, His Stand captures a familiar yet quietly unconventional corner of Lancefield.
A small rural protest that has become part of the township’s living story. At its centre sits an old farm truck, softened by time, beside a handmade sign built from stacked potato crates and layered with weathered paint.
In this painting, I’ve softened the text itself so the work leans away from statement and toward story, inviting the viewer instead to feel the presence of a man standing for what he believes, in a place that holds both resistance and familiarity.
It is a work about voice, history, and the quiet tension between past and future, offering collectors of original Australian art a moment to pause and consider the human stories embedded in everyday landscapes. His Land, His Stand invites you to look beyond the surface and bring home a piece of lived Australian narrative.
Living with the Artwork
As a smaller-scale work, His Land, His Stand fits beautifully into curated collections, gallery walls, or intimate interior spaces.
It adds character and conversation to a room, making it especially appealing for art collectors and interior designers seeking original Australian paintings with narrative depth and a sense of place.
